Overview of New Features and SDK Support
Blend Shape
This function adds differences to the model geometry. This is a convenient feature that allows modeling without worrying about the number of parameter multiplications.
See the “Blend Shape” page in the Cubism Editor manual for more information on Blend Shapes.
The Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta and later are supported on all platforms.
When updating a project created using the Cubism 4 SDK r4 or earlier to the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta or later, only a Core update is required.
Multiply Color/Screen Color
This function allows you to composite a specified color on an object by multiplication and screen.
See the “Multiply Color/Screen Color” page in the Cubism Editor manual for more information on Multiply Color and Screen Color.
The Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta and later are supported on all platforms.
Notes:
If you are updating a project built with the Cubism 4 SDK r4 or earlier to the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta or later, you will need to update the entire SDK, not just the Core and shaders, as there are modifications throughout the framework.
Enhanced Mesh Edit
“Mirror Edit” and “Merge Vertices” have been added to the functions for manually editing meshes.
See the “Edit Mesh Manually” in the Editor manual for more information on enhanced mesh editing.
Mirror edit
The Mirror Edit function adds vertices and edges so that they are symmetrical around a straight line axis.
Mirror Edit of “Reflect Horizontally” and “Reflect Vertically” is supported.
Merge vertices
The already struck vertices and the edges associated with them can be combined into one.
Notes:
Enhanced mesh editing is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta or later because it is an editing function in the Editor.
The edited mesh is exported to embedded data and can be used in the SDK.
Runtime Model Track
This function imports models for embedding into a scene as tracks. A built-in model settings file can be loaded into the timeline to create animations.
See the “Runtime Model Track” page in the Editor manual for more information on Runtime Model Track.
Notes:
The Runtime Model Track is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
In addition, information on this function is not exported to any of the embedded data.
Parameter Bookmarks
This function displays a list of parameters related to the right-clicked position of the model in the animation process as a Pop-up window or as a label. Even models with many parameters can be narrowed down to the parameters you want to display, allowing you to create animations efficiently.
See the “Parameter Bookmarks” page in the Editor manual for more information on Parameter Bookmarks.
Notes:
Parameter Bookmarks is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
In addition, information on this function is not exported to any of the embedded data.
Freeze
This function is used to stop specific properties on the timeline palette to check motion, position, etc.
See the “Freeze Function”page in the Editor manual for more information on the freeze function.
Notes:
Freeze is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
In addition, information on this function is not exported to any of the embedded data.
Enhancement of “Automatic Generation of Four Corner Forms”
When auto-generating a two-parameter four-corner form, you can now select a standard parameter value and a key to override the auto-generated result.
See the “Automatic Generation of Four Corner Forms” page for more information on the enhanced four-corner form auto-generation feature.
Notes:
The enhancement of “Automatic Generation of Four Corner Forms” is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
The edited mesh is exported to embedded data and can be used in the SDK.
Paste Form Special
This function allows you to paste only the desired properties (Vertices Info, Opacity, Draw Order, etc.) into a keyform when pasting a form.
See the “Paste Form Special” page for more information on special pasting of forms.
Notes:
Paste Form Special is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
The edited mesh is exported to embedded data and can be used in the SDK.
Enhanced Tabs
The following features have been added to the tabs that can be displayed in the Editor’s View area.
- Set All Views to Same Display Position
- Switch to Previous Tab/Switch to Next Tab
See the “About the View Area” page for more information on the enhanced tabs.
Notes:
Enhanced tabs are not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because of the editing functionality in the Editor.
In addition, information on this function is not exported to any of the embedded data.
Improved Shortcut Settings Dialog Box
The UI of the shortcut settings dialog box has been redesigned to make it easier to find items. In addition, settings files can be shared between Windows and Mac.
See the “Shortcut Key List” for details on the improved Shortcut Settings dialog box.
• Notes:
• The Shortcut Settings dialog box is not supported in the Cubism 4 SDK r5 beta because it is an editing function in the Editor.
• The information on this function is not written to any of the embedded data.
