[0.17.0] 01-23-2025

Key info

  • “Clipping in the lower layer” has been implemented. This enables a variety of mask expressions similar to “Clipping Mask” commonly used in drawing tools.
  • “Group rendering mode” can now be selected in the group layer settings. This provides a wider range of expression when editing child layers.

Additional functions

  • “Clipping in the lower layer” has been implemented.
    • This enables a variety of mask expressions similar to “Clipping Mask” commonly used in drawing tools.
    • Opaque areas of any layer, such as text, Live2D models, videos, and scene layers, can be used as masks.
    • Multiple masked layers can be layered, similar to the drawing tool.
    • Groups can also be used as masks and be masked. However, the “Group rendering mode” must be set to “Normal (Drawing together).”
  • “Group rendering mode” can now be selected in the group layer settings.
    •  “High speed” is suitable for grouping child layers by role, etc. This is the same expression as in the previous version. This is the default setting.
    •  Use “Normal (Drawing together)” if you want to make a group translucent, apply effects to a group, use a group as a clipping mask, clipping-mask a group, or apply the blend mode to a group.
    •  Use “Transparent (Drawing together)” when you want to make a group semi-transparent while applying the blend mode to the group’s child layers.

  • A drag handle has been added to the center of the bounding box used when selecting a layer.
    • When a layer behind another layer is selected, you can move the back layer by dragging the movement handles.

Improvement items

  • Resolved a problem that prevented adjustment of animation effects on the Layer Settings Palette side.
  • A problem has been solved where scene references by scene layers would freeze if they were in a circular relationship (A to A, A to B to C to A, etc.).
Note: Although we have checks to prevent a circular relationship during editing, there is a bug that causes circulation in some operations. The checking mechanism will be improved in the future.
  • The freezing problem when video and still image files, etc. cannot be successfully retrieved has been resolved.
  • Improved English translation.

Other changes

  • With the implementation of “Clipping in the lower layer,” the existing “Clipping Mask” was renamed to “Clipping by shapes.”
  • Transition expressions between layers belonging to different groups have been changed.
Note: Some existing data (special cases) may be expressed differently.
    • Previously, transitions could be applied to any layer, but there have been cases where transitions between layers belonging to different groups could not be applied correctly (when the groups have coordinate transformations, semi-transparency, etc.).
    • Starting with this version, transitions between layers belonging to different groups can be applied only when the group has no effect on the expression; otherwise, the transition line is displayed with a red line and the transition effect is disabled.
    • Cases when the group has no effect on the expression meet all of the following conditions.
      • The group has the following settings: The group rendering mode is “High speed,” the opacity is 100%, no effects, no coordinate transformations, no animation effects, no application as a clipping mask, no clipping mask application, and the blend mode is normal.
